Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts falling within the focus and scope of EJCEE. Please read these guidelines carefully and use the official template before submitting.

1. General Requirements

  • The manuscript is the authors' original work, has not been published before, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript is written in standard Indonesian or academic English — authors choose freely.
  • Title, abstract and keywords must be supplied in both languages (Indonesian and English), whatever the language of the full text. Manuscripts carrying metadata in only one language are returned without review.
  • Similarity index must not exceed 20%.
  • The manuscript follows the EJCEE template and APA 7th edition referencing.
  • The manuscript reports a programme that was actually carried out, not a plan or a proposal.

2. Structure (Community Engagement Article)

  • Title — concise and informative, maximum 15 words, naming the intervention and the partner or location. Avoid generic titles such as "Training for the Community of Village X".
  • Authors and affiliations — full names without academic titles, institutions, and the corresponding author's email (removed from the blinded copy).
  • Abstract — 200–300 words in a single paragraph, covering the partner's problem, the aim, the implementation method, measurable results, and the impact. Followed by 3–5 keywords. Required in full in both Indonesian and English, together with the translated title. Machine translations submitted without editing will be returned for correction.
  • Introduction — partner profile; situation analysis supported by baseline data (survey, interviews, village statistics); root causes; a brief review of comparable programmes; and the aims and novelty of the activity.
  • Implementation Method — the approach used (for example PAR, ABCD, PRA, technology transfer, sustained facilitation); the stages of activity; time and place; the number and selection criteria of participants; the role of each party; tools and materials; and the evaluation instruments and indicators. This section must be detailed enough for another team to replicate the work.
  • Results and Discussion — achievement measured against the indicators and the baseline (present before-and-after data where available); the partners' response; analysis of why the outcome occurred, connected to the literature; and the obstacles encountered and how they were addressed.
  • Impact and Sustainability — what persists after the implementing team departs; institutions or structures established; the plan for partner self-reliance; and planned follow-up.
  • Conclusion — concise, answering the stated aims without repeating the results at length. Include the limitations of the activity.
  • Acknowledgements — funding source with contract number where applicable, community partners, and supporting parties. Disclose any use of generative AI here.
  • References — APA 7th edition, a minimum of 15 references, at least 60% of them journal articles published in the past ten years.

3. Formatting

  • Length according to section (see Focus and Scope); Community Engagement Articles 3,000–6,000 words including references.
  • A4 paper, 2.5 cm margins on all sides, single column.
  • Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.15 line spacing for body text.
  • Tables and figures numbered consecutively with titles and sources, placed near their first mention. Table titles above the table; figure captions below the figure.
  • Photographs: maximum six, minimum 300 dpi, each with a caption explaining its context — not merely "Figure 1. Activity documentation". Identifiable faces require consent; children's faces must be obscured unless written guardian consent exists.
  • Citations and references managed with a reference manager (Mendeley or Zotero).

4. Files to Upload

  1. The complete manuscript (.docx) using the EJCEE template.
  2. A blinded manuscript (.docx) with all author identity and affiliation removed.
  3. Statement of originality and partner consent statement.
  4. Supporting files where applicable: evaluation instruments, image permissions, ethics certificate.

5. Submission Checklist

  • Manuscript prepared using the EJCEE template.
  • Title, abstract and keywords complete in both Indonesian and English.
  • Situation analysis supported by baseline data, not assumptions.
  • Implementation method includes evaluation indicators and instruments.
  • Results present measurable achievement, not a list of events.
  • All author identity removed from the blinded file.
  • References in APA 7th edition (minimum 15).
  • Photographs have permission and contextual captions.
  • Similarity screening completed (≤20%).

6. The Most Frequent Causes of Desk Rejection

  • The manuscript is a chronological account of an event ("08.00 opening, 09.00 speeches").
  • No baseline data, so no change can be demonstrated.
  • Results amount only to "participants were enthusiastic" or "the activity ran smoothly".
  • No account of what happens after the team leaves.
  • References dominated by old textbooks and unauthored web pages.
  • Abstract or keywords supplied in one language only.

Pedoman Penulis

Sertakan keterbatasan kegiatan.
  • Ucapan Terima Kasih — sumber pendanaan (nomor kontrak bila ada), mitra masyarakat, dan pihak pendukung. Ungkapkan penggunaan AI generatif di bagian ini.
  • Daftar Pustaka — APA edisi ke-7, minimal 15 rujukan, sekurang-kurangnya 60% berupa artikel jurnal terbitan 10 tahun terakhir.

3. Format

  • Panjang sesuai rubrik (lihat Fokus dan Ruang Lingkup); Artikel Pengabdian 3.000–6.000 kata termasuk daftar pustaka.
  • Kertas A4, margin 2,5 cm pada semua sisi, satu kolom.
  • Huruf Times New Roman 12 pt, spasi 1,15 untuk teks isi.
  • Tabel dan gambar diberi nomor urut, judul, dan sumber; ditempatkan dekat penyebutan pertamanya. Judul tabel di atas tabel, judul gambar di bawah gambar.
  • Foto dokumentasi: maksimal 6 foto, resolusi minimal 300 dpi, masing-masing dengan keterangan yang menjelaskan konteks — bukan sekadar "Gambar 1. Dokumentasi kegiatan".

4. Berkas yang Harus Diunggah

  1. Naskah lengkap (.docx) sesuai templat EJCEE.
  2. Naskah versi buta (.docx) tanpa identitas dan afiliasi penulis.
  3. Surat pernyataan orisinalitas dan surat pernyataan persetujuan mitra.
  4. Berkas pendukung bila ada: instrumen evaluasi, surat izin penggunaan citra, sertifikat etik.

5. Daftar Periksa Sebelum Mengirim

  • Analisis situasi didukung data awal, bukan asumsi.
  • Metode pelaksanaan memuat indikator dan instrumen evaluasi.
  • Hasil menyajikan capaian terukur, bukan daftar acara.
  • Seluruh identitas penulis dihapus pada berkas versi buta.
  • Daftar pustaka mengikuti APA edisi ke-7 (minimal 15 rujukan).

6. Kesalahan yang Paling Sering Menyebabkan Penolakan Awal

  • Naskah berupa laporan kronologis acara ("pukul 08.00 pembukaan, 09.00 sambutan").
