About the Journal

Equaril Journal of Community Engagement and Empowerment (EJCEE) — Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Equaril — is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published by Equaril. EJCEE disseminates the results of community engagement and empowerment programmes carried out by lecturers, researchers, practitioners, students, and civil society organisations across all fields of knowledge.

Our Position

A successful empowerment programme too often ends its life as a report filed away in an institutional cabinet. What is lost is not the document but the know-how: why that approach was chosen, what actually changed for the partner, where the programme nearly failed, and what kept it alive once the implementing team had gone. Without that record, the next team in another district begins from nothing.

EJCEE exists to close that gap. The journal therefore does not publish activity reports. A manuscript becomes scholarship when it presents a situation analysis supported by baseline evidence, an implementation method described in enough detail to be replicated, measurable outcomes, and an honest reflection on obstacles and sustainability. A well-analysed failure serves readers better than an unexplained success.

Being multidisciplinary is, for EJCEE, more than openness to every field. It is an active preference for work that crosses disciplinary lines — health with information technology, economics with environmental science, law with education — because problems in the field never arrive packaged within a single discipline.

Language Policy

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English, and authors are free to choose. This is deliberate. EJCEE holds that the quality of a community programme, not the author's fluency in a second language, should determine whether a lesson from the field is preserved or lost.

Every article, whatever the language of its full text, must carry its title, abstract and keywords in both Indonesian and English. This is not a formality: it is the requirement set by DOAJ and Scopus for journals published in languages other than English, and it is what makes the work discoverable to readers outside Indonesia.

The journal website and all editorial policies are maintained in English so that reviewers, indexing services and assessors worldwide can read them without friction. The Author Guidelines and Online Submission pages are additionally provided in Indonesian.

Ethics and Access

EJCEE follows the standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Every submission is screened for similarity before review. All published articles are freely available to anyone, anywhere, at no cost and with no embargo, under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence.
